Parenting curriculum for projects and homeschooling
To get the job done properly, a parenting curriculum may be neccesary. Let’s face it; no one is quite the same as you, are they? In looks, walk, tastes or talk. Using our effective parenting skills we will be able to assess the learning styles of our children. Some of us like to listen, others prefer to see how things are done and many need to touch in order for the information to sink in.
There are other factors that come into play too: the ideal learning situation is much more than a pen and paper at a desk. By checking your own preferences as well as those of your child, you will make things much easier for all.
There is a Chinese saying: “Tell me and I forget, show me and I remember, involve me and I understand.”
Babies naturally copy adults. Our actions speak louder than our words. Every parent needs a parenting curriculum, toddlers. are indeed a challenge for the best of us. The old saying is: “Don’t do what I do, do what I say.” But the truth of the matter is that humans and especially babies are copycats, so what the children see, they tend to copy that. Many children are natural mimics. However, the challenge is that children are indiscriminate and will copy everything – both good and bad. Therefore it is our primary responsibility and epecially when parenting a toddler, to ensure that children are exposed to images, words, ideas and values that are moral, edifying, encouraging and God centred.
There are many wonderful books which fit into this category and are available for children, audio books in the form of cds or tapes, (if you still have a cassette player!)
We have developed our parenting curriculum approach over the last twelve years. We have found it flexible enough to fit in with both our children's individual learning styles or any other learning style. This approach is also easy to adapt and enlarge.
We expose our children to as many interesting things as possible and look for that moment when their face lights up, or they begin asking questions. From that point we move forward with our 'Copy that' approach. What better way to stimulate and encourage them than to take a weekend off and get away from the normal house environment. If you are packing tents, fishing poles and firelighters, take a look at these useful camping tips.
We want our children to follow their natural curiosity, (within reason), and become the self-learners they were created to be. Yet so often, it seems we focus so much on 'doing' that we forget about the simple 'being' of everyday life. Let's face it, we could all do with some helpful time management tips.
