Where to start developing good parenting skills?

To assist in developing good parenting skills you can use the information on these Masks. Studying them is a wonderful way of personality typing that has proved itself accurate, enhancing good parenting skills. Masks are an easy term for both parents and children to understand. They help us acquire the parenting maturity we are looking for. Studying the research and writing about the Nine Masks has helped us to understand ourselves as well as those around us.

The Masks create an awareness of our possible struggles and growth points. We can also gain a sober understanding that we as parents are all in a similar boat, yet are still unique individuals.

We need to be patient with ourselves and others as transformation is a process that takes time.

"Man, alone, has the power to transform his thoughts into physical reality; man, alone, can dream and make his dreams come true." ~ Unknown

The Mask research is thought to originate with the Desert Fathers and the information gives valuable insight to enable and empower us as caregivers as we train our children.

Basically, we are all born with the potential of all Nine Masks. The parenting skills and styles that our parents used as well as our teachers' methods, hugely influences the development of the personality mask we eventually portray. As we grow and mature, we can nurture our strengths as well as reference aspects of the other Masks. At the same time, we are not limited to a 'box'.

In order to establish accurately who you are, it is best to read all the information on all the masks before coming to a conclusion. This will enable good parenting skills when applying the correct information.

"Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced." ~ James Baldwin

The Nine Masks are typically referred to by their number. While this is convenient, as in, "My husband is such an M5," the system should always be kept in balance. That means the typing and referrals should not override other factors that are a part of our make up, or dictate our everyday actions. They are tools and if incorrectly used, become weapons. Always remember you are not just a number!

How the masks are interpreted can develop our good parenting skills as moms and dads, teachers, caregivers, artists, counsellors and leaders. And important to all, the knowledge of them could also improve our parenting skills.
