Crafts for children homemade greeting cards
Homemade card crafts for children can be used on any special day and especially on that important date, the 14th of February; Valentine’s Day. And what better way to touch someone’s heart than with a card you have made with your own hands? For in that way, the tender love and admiration you have for your secret love will be felt through the card.
Here is a simple and easy way to put together a card with a genuine personal touch and homemade stamp on it. The beauty of this card template is that you can adjust the size to whatever you would like. Or to whatever size your card stock will allow.
Step one: Trace the template on your card stock in light pencil.

Step two: Cut the card template carefully with scissors. Use a suitable small guillotine if one is available. Stationery stores generally stock inexpensive cutters for this purpose. For the final small corner cuts, a pair of sharp scissors is best. (NB. Use strong craft scissors as card stock is hard and will make the blades of fabric scissors blunt very quickly.)
Step three: Lightly score the card on the fold lines. The back edge of a normal dinner set knife should have a wide enough edge to not damage the card. A purpose built folding scorer is ideal if you can access one. NB. Make sure the score lines are straight and square: This will keep the finished card neat and attractive.
Step four: Carefully fold the card along the designated edges. Make tiny adjustments where necessary to keep the appearance of the card as neat as possible.
Step five: Glue the card insert in place in the centre of the card. It may be easier to decorate and write your message on the insert before you glue it in place.
Step six: Add trimming decoration such as glitter or small pen drawings to add the final touch.
Step seven: Once the glue and glitter have dried, do a test fold to make sure everything fits well. Then seal your work of art with a kiss and send to your secret receiver: Who knows, perhaps he or she will have read this page and send you one in return!
The most important point to remember is that your card will carry the love you place on it. Let that love also fill your own heart and keep you going through the day.
These cards are simple crafts for children and have many variations. Use them for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, those all important birthdays, engagements, weddings, Christmas and many others: Let your imagination run and be creative.
