About us

Children are the building blocks of present and future society and parenting is a large part of arranging those blocks correctly. Facilitating and assisting individuals to master their strengths, and subsequently watching them turn challenges into opportunities, is what we are about. For in this process they find the meaning for their existence. And that is why we have this site.
Through our personal life journeys, both before and after we met, we have grown and experienced many levels. Through this site we would like to share some of our knowledge and parenting children tips. These tips have been hard won and have worked for us in our journey.
Over the last two years and more, our desire has been to share some of our knowledge on a website. Having requested quotes from several parties we discovered that there were quite a few limitations in starting a website as we perceived it. These included; a limited number of pages and extra costs incurred for each new addition.
As we searched for an answer, a friend suggested Sitesell and we had a look. What a surprise and a pleasant one at that! The success stories as well as the simplicity of the Sitesell software convinced us.
Step by step guidelines and clear instructions have made our journey with Sitesell exciting, rewarding and a pleasure. Compared to the very little knowledge we had just one year ago, we now feel confident enough to build our own Sitesell based site and recommend Sitesell to others who read this.
Change your outlook, change to Sitesell, change your web life!
Who we are:
My name is Sonia Hawkins. My husband Dave and I have been married for 19 years. We have two children aged 14 and 10. I have been homeschooling for ten years and am an active member of our local homeschooling support group. I enjoy organising outings and events for children and enjoy keeping my hands busy with crafts, painting and baking.
I did Christian counselling for 2 years and have developed a heart for helping others discover their own unique potential. This passion for people led me to study educational kinesiology through Edu-k. Since 2004 I have received 10 certificates and I am still busy with my practitioner internship. What I have learned has given me the opportunity to help people become aware of their learning profiles and styles, and lead them towards optimal brain organisation and reclaiming the joy of learning. In 2010 I entered the next stage of my life journey by taking on a part-time job caring for toddlers at a local pre-school.
By profession I, Dave, am a freelance sound engineer mostly in the film and television industry. Working in this field has taken me over most of Southern Africa since 1979. I have met many interesting people and have numerous fascinating stories from these experiences. One of the most notable productions I worked on was 'The Volunteers',
a pioneer reality tv series shot in 1983, and which now has its own Facebook group.
I have also written freelance articles and taken pictures for the general interest magazine JOY and for the business entrepreneur magazine SUCCEED SA. Part of my hobby of photography has been steam trains and I have a large collection of South African steam train pictures.
As with Sonia, I have a love for people and this has been expressed in over 20 years of running a Bible study and 5 years of Christian counselling. Together we co-pastored a children’s church for 3 years catering for children aged 4 to 14.
As a team, we have written activity books for children, namely:
“Fun Factory”, “Travellers Treasure”, “Marvellous Maps”: These three cover different functions of the human body and are suitable for pre-school and primary school children. Ages 5-10.
“Bible Characters ABC”, For ages 5-10 years.
As well as these Afrikaans books:
“Eerste lees werkboek”, Fun and learning activities with easy readers included. Ages 5-7.
“Die Bybelse ABC”, Reading and learning activities. Ages 5-10.
Thanks for visiting us and we would appreciate hearing from you. We are constantly updating our site and if you have any tips that could assist others and deem them fit, please share them with us. We welcome your comments, interesting stories and tips, to uplift and strengthen families.
